The Kimbolton Creative Therapy Approach

As well as being a therapist, I am a parent myself. I know how hard it can be when you are worried about your child’s well-being. It is difficult to know who to turn to or where to seek help if you feel your child is struggling.  At Kimbolton Creative Therapy, we prioritise building trusting relationships with both children and their parents. We recognise that parents are the most important figures in a child's life, and we strive to work holistically. Our approach aims to understand and support your child's unique needs within the context of their family and environment.

About me

My name is Tanya Wates, and I am the founder of Kimbolton Creative Therapy. I have been working therapeutically with children and young people for over 15 years. I am a fully qualified and registered Play and Creative Arts Therapist, a member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Play Therapy United Kingdom (PTUK) and appear on both their registers. I am also a qualified Parent-Child Attachment practitioner, enabling me to work with, and empower, parents to improve their relationship with their children. I trained for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy with the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy, and passed with distinction. I have worked extensively in schools, the community, in Local Authority Provisions and prisons, working with both CYP, their families and professionals.  As well as running my private practice, I currently work for a young person's charity in Northamptonshire. I am also the proud parent of four boys.

All my work is subject to clinical supervision and I adhere to The PTUK Ethical Framework. I am fully insured, with up to date DBS, safe guarding, GDPR and relevant working policies. All documentation is available at request.
